Frequently Asked Questions

How is a rough terrain forklift different from a standard forklift?

A rough terrain forklift generally uses larger pneumatic tires, increased ground clearance, stronger traction and an outdoor-oriented chassis. It is designed for uneven ground where a standard warehouse forklift may lose traction or stability.

Should I choose 2WD or 4WD?

Two-wheel drive may be sufficient for relatively firm outdoor yards. Four-wheel drive is more suitable for mud, gravel, slopes and changing ground conditions. The decision should be based on the actual job site rather than price alone.

Is a rough terrain forklift the same as a telehandler?

No. A straight-mast rough terrain forklift lifts primarily in the vertical direction. A telehandler uses a telescopic boom and can reach forward as well as upward. Their load charts, operating methods and applications differ.

Can a rough terrain forklift work on slopes?

Only within the machine’s specified gradeability and operating limits. Ground firmness, load position, slope direction and tire traction all affect stability. The site conditions should be described before model selection.
